It’s Friday, I’m in love

Don’t you love short weeks?  I’m happy for another weekend, as well as a little break from the steamy weather we’ve been having lately.  We’re planning to see a few friends, and if it isn’t too rainy, catch a ballgame.  If we do get rained out, I’ll just try to brighten things up indoors by picking up a few blossoms, like these lovely yellow and red Butterfly Weeds that I got last weekend from the Women’s Coop in Bethesda.

Hope you have a great weekend!

[Edit 8:30am]  Turns out my flowers lived up to their name!  After almost a week on our dining room table, I suddenly noticed two giant caterpillars munching away on the leaves!  Those little guys got set free outside before I left for work, but I’m sure their new bush is nowhere near as tasty as my flowers.

It’s Friday, I’m in love

...

The weather is getting summery, and we’ve been celebrating the longer days and the return of the farmer’s market by having our dinners out on the balcony.  The days ahead are full of barbeques and baseball games, and if I’m lucky maybe a nap or two.

Hope you have a great weekend!

After several weekends spent on the road, a quiet weekend at home starts to sound heavenly.  This weekend, I’m happy for the normalcy of sleeping in my own bed, going to the farmer’s market, and catching up on episodes of Parks and Rec.  There’s a charity craw-fish boil on our radar, which sounds fun and delicious, but mostly I’m looking forward to a little downtime hanging out in my city.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Aren’t these baby pants just too adorable!?!  I have a bunch of friends who are expecting or just had little ones, and I had fun picking out sweet, little baby things while I was in Paris.  These teensy red striped pants went via mail to a friends who had a baby recently.  The Mister and I couldn’t get over the cuteness of the tiny little sailboat stitched onto the tiny little back pocket.

Speaking of baby clothes, this weekend we were invited to a baby shower in New Jersey, so we decided to make a weekend out of it and celebrate our anniversary while we’re up there.  I’m really looking forward to beach time in a cute seaside town.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Working between the holidays is pretty tough, especially when the Mister is home.  I’m glad for the weekend and a little more quality time with him.  We’ll be working on freshening up the paint on the walls and putting in shelves.

Here are a few photos from the week.  Hope you have a great weekend!

Since the Mister spent the earlier part of the month traveling, we’re staying in town for the holidays this year.  This is the first time we’ve spent the holidays alone together, which is kind of sweet and romantic.  We’re planning to do a little baking, wrap a couple more gifts, and enjoy a few cocktails while DC is at its quietest.

Here are a few photos from the week.  Hope you have a great weekend!

It’s good to be home for a weekend

It was good to be home for the weekend.  I spent a lot of time catching up on sleep, cooking, sorting through photos, and celebrating a friend’s birthday.  Here are a few phone snaps from the last couple of days.

Wanderings – Greetings from Monterey

Sunset on Monterey Bay

I’ve been in Monterey for a few days now and its been a wonderful change of scenery.  The days have been sunny and cool, and the air smells like eucalyptus which is one of my favorite things about being in California. Here are a few photos from my first walk down along the water.

This weekend we are planning to go kayaking in Monterey Bay, explore Carmel, and drive up to Santa Cruz to hang out with friends.  Hope you have a great weekend!
