It’s Friday, I’m in love

DSC_0300

Now that we’re truly in the Christmas season, I’m starting to get the itch to decorate the apartment, bake some goodies, and get a move on sending out Christmas cards.  We have a bunch of Christmas parties coming up next week, so I’m hoping to pick up some pine boughs, a wreath, and maybe a tiny tree to deck our halls this weekend.

Hope you have a great weekend!

2014.Seattle.33

Going through these photos from happy times in Seattle puts a smile on face, though I’m also excited for the next trip up on our plate.  This weekend we head back to Michigan for a getaway with dear friends.  We’re staying on the same tiny peninsula in the same little cabin, but this time more friends are joining us for a long weekend.  I have a special love for Michigan and I’m so excited to be back.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Aren’t these baby pants just too adorable!?!  I have a bunch of friends who are expecting or just had little ones, and I had fun picking out sweet, little baby things while I was in Paris.  These teensy red striped pants went via mail to a friends who had a baby recently.  The Mister and I couldn’t get over the cuteness of the tiny little sailboat stitched onto the tiny little back pocket.

Speaking of baby clothes, this weekend we were invited to a baby shower in New Jersey, so we decided to make a weekend out of it and celebrate our anniversary while we’re up there.  I’m really looking forward to beach time in a cute seaside town.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Weekends are nice, but today is extra special because it’s my favorite person’s birthday.  We’re on the road, today celebrating the Mister’s big 3-0, and tomorrow a loved one’s wedding.  I’m excited to spend a few days hanging out with my guy, catching up with family, and hopefully dancing till I drop.

Hope you have a great weekend!

It’s been a long time since I’ve been this excited for a weekend.  Tomorrow my mother and I are heading off to Paris for a week-long getaway.  I’m looking forward to time spent people watching in cafe’s, photographing the city streets, and stuffing myself silly with amazing cheese, baguettes, and pastries.  I’ll try to post a few photos from France next week, but mostly I’m hoping to decompress and unplug.

Here’s what I’ve been up to on Instagram lately.  Hope you have a great weekend!

The weekend is here and I’m still missing my guy and counting the days until he is home. I’m on call Saturday and Sunday so I’ll mostly be spending time at home, watching bad movies on Netflix, eating avocado on baguette, and hopefully playing around with my new camera lens. Hope you have a great weekend!

It’s been a long week.  I spent most of it in Dallas busy with a work trip, and I’ll talk a little about that next week.  Thanks for all your lovely comments on the posts about Spain.  Wouldn’t it be nice to be there right now?  Especially since there may be more snow in our future.  Oh well, I guess it means more time for snuggles and naps.

Here are a few last photos from Barcelona.  Hope you have a great weekend!

I’ve had an incredibly busy week, but these frigid temps have left me uninspired to do anything except curl up under my blankets for weeks at a time.  Lucky for me we are supposed to have a bit of sun over the weekend and I plan to be outside soaking it in.  Hope a little good weather makes it your way, too.

Here are a few photos from the week.  Have a great weekend!

It’s been another cold and snowy week here in DC—not the best time to be trying to get over a cold.  A friend of mine is having a party this weekend, and since I’m starting to feel much better, I’m looking forward to doing something other than burrowing under a pile of blankets or horrifying people on the metro with my cough.

Here are a few photos from the week.  Hope you have a great weekend!

After a week of polar vortex-induced time at home wearing three pairs of socks, it’s been really great to enjoy a few days of sunshine and warm-ish rain.  I’m in Philadelphia for a few days, extending a short work trip so that I can meet up with friends and enjoy the city.  I always find a change of scenery to be energizing, so I’m pretty thrilled to be here.

Hope you have a great weekend!  Here are a few photos from the week.

Now that we’re starting to defrost in DC, I feel like I can finally crawl out from under my pile of blankets, shed a couple of pairs of socks, and maybe get a few things done.  I’m hoping to do some baking and take advantage of a little sunshine on Sunday to bike down to the farmer’s market.

Here are a few photos from the week.  Have a great weekend!

Since Christmas, we’ve been busy with some major apartment interior improvements and we are finally putting our place back together again.  I’ll share more about that project later, but it’s awfully nice to kick off the year off with our digs looking shiny and new.  Here are a few photos from the week.

Hope you have a great weekend and a happy new year!

Working between the holidays is pretty tough, especially when the Mister is home.  I’m glad for the weekend and a little more quality time with him.  We’ll be working on freshening up the paint on the walls and putting in shelves.

Here are a few photos from the week.  Hope you have a great weekend!

Since the Mister spent the earlier part of the month traveling, we’re staying in town for the holidays this year.  This is the first time we’ve spent the holidays alone together, which is kind of sweet and romantic.  We’re planning to do a little baking, wrap a couple more gifts, and enjoy a few cocktails while DC is at its quietest.

Here are a few photos from the week.  Hope you have a great weekend!

Eastern Cape of South Africa. Nkosi sikelel' Nelson Mandela and South Africa.

Nkosi sikelel’ Nelson Mandela and South Africa.

Nelson Mandela’s passing yesterday has been on my mind.  A few years ago, I spent several months interning at the University of Fort Hare in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, which was Mandela’s alma mater and the oldest historically black university in southern Africa.  It was one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life, and the news coverage has drudged up a lot of memories.

So in addition to a few photos from the week, here’s my favorite photo from the Eastern Cape and another of some comic books I picked up while I was there.  These were distributed for free to young children all over South Africa to teach them about Nelson Mandela’s legacy since, in their short lives, apartheid was a thing of the past.  I think I’ll spend a little time this weekend rereading them.

Tonight we are hosting our fourth Beaujolais Nouveau happy hour at our apartment.  For us, its always been a fun excuse to get our friends together over cheap wine and a lot of good cheeses.  Beaujolais Nouveau Day technically falls on the third Thursday of November–which was yesterday–but after several years of having a bit too much wine on Thursday night and then having to get through work on Friday, we decided it was time to celebrate The Day After Beaujolais Nouveau Day.

Next week I’ll talk more about the party, but for now here are a few photos from the last week.  Hope you have a great weekend!

Have you ever lived at a half address? I have.

Now that the time has changed, I’m not riding my bike to work as often.  There’s plenty of light in the mornings, but it’s just too dark on the way home.  This weekend, I’m planing to go for a nice long bike ride with my camera and on Saturday night, we’re going to a friend’s house for game night.  I have a gift certificate to a nearby theater, so I’m tempted to finally go see Gravity, but I’ve also heard great things about Frances Ha which is now available on Netflix.

Here are a few photos from the last few days.  Hope you have a great weekend!
